Saturday School Opportunity
We will be having our first DVA Saturday School on December 5 to offer a make-up work session for students who are not up-to-date on completion or submission of their assignments (graded work) as of Wednesday, December 2. This will be their last opportunity to make up or redeem missing assignments or low grades as of that point. Parents will be notified on Thursday, December 3 if their child(ren) need(s) to attend. After that Saturday, incomplete assignments will not be redone, and missing work will go in the grade book as unredeemable zeros or low grades.
Language Arts & Social Studies Projects
All students at DVA should be wrapping up the research phase of their language arts/social studies projects and should be writing their articles for Mrs. Haymore. In social studies, students should be making the decision concerning their end product for the school fair on December 15. All Social Studies Fair projects will require an exhibit board and research paper. If a student's choice is National History Day, then he or she may complete an exhibit, webpage, documentary film, or performance. More information on these projects is available at Miss Schollaert’s podcast or Mrs. Haymore’s website. Beginning the Monday after Thanksgiving, students will be working on these projects daily in both language arts and social studies. If students are planning on completing the Social Studies Fair project or an Exhibit in National History Day they should bring a purchased exhibit board to school the week following Thanksgiving.
Odyssey of the Mind
There will be a parent/student meeting immediately after school on Wednesday, December the 2nd. The meeting will review the program objectives, requirements, and timeline of rehearsals for all Da Vinci teams. Please try to be at the meeting or contact Miss Schollaert for more details.
