Saturday School Opportunity
We will be having our first DVA Saturday School on December 5 to offer a make-up work session for students who are not up-to-date on completion or submission of their assignments (graded work) as of Wednesday, December 2. This will be their last opportunity to make up or redeem missing assignments or low grades as of that point. Parents will be notified on Thursday, December 3 if their child(ren) need(s) to attend. After that Saturday, incomplete assignments will not be redone, and missing work will go in the grade book as unredeemable zeros or low grades.
Agendas
Parents: Agendas are now playing a bigger role in child’s learning experience. DVA teachers are all expecting students to actively use their agendas in writing down assignments and expectations. They are asking that parents reinforce this at home and check with their children regularly to help ensure that this is being done daily. This is a great life skill for kids to learn now. It will help them to organize their time and tasks as their time becomes more and more divided the older they get.
Language Arts & Social Studies Projects
Beginning this week, students will be working on projects daily in both language arts and social studies. If students are planning on completing the Social Studies Fair project or an Exhibit in National History Day they should bring a purchased exhibit board to school this week.
Odyssey of the Mind
There will be a parent/student meeting immediately after school on Wednesday, December the 2nd. The meeting will review the program objectives, requirements, and timeline of rehearsals for all Da Vinci teams. Please try to be at the meeting or contact Miss Schollaert for more details.
Box Tops
Our first collection of box tops will conclude on Friday, December 11. Announcements of individual winner and guild winner will be made the following week. Remember to send trimmed box tops in Ziploc bag with student name and guild to enter the two contests. A box for collections is in the office. Thanks for your support!
