Arcelia Dalton

Mrs. Dalton is a graduate of NGCSU.  She holds a B.A. in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in science; a Masters in Middle Grades Science Education; and a specialist's degree in educational leadership.  She has eight years of teaching experience in a variety of areas-- science, language arts, social studies and mathematics.  Mrs. Dalton uses interactive discussions, active participation and problem-solving activities to help students apply and understand concepts in each content area.  While teaching at Gainesville Middle School, Mrs. Dalton taught science bilingually to Spanish-speaking students; and she will incorporate Spanish language and culture into her teaching at DVA.  She went into teaching to help students achieve their best and to inspire them, not only academically but personally.  Mrs. Dalton's greatest joys are spending time with her two-year-old son and husband.

Mrs. Haymore has taught English and social studies at the high school and middle school levels for eighteen years.  She has worked in both public and private schools, as well as in a home school setting.  Mrs. Haymore founded and directed the Master's Academy of Fine Arts, which served hundreds of home school students throughout Hall County from 1998-2003.  She holds a specialist's degree in curriculum and instruction from Piedmont College and a master's degree in middle school education from North Georgia College.  Currently, she is in her fifth year of teaching language arts at South Hall Middle School and has been instrumental in implementing the Reading/Writing Workshop approach there.  Mrs. Haymore also serves on the school leadership team and co-sponsors the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl group.  She enjoys athletics and is a second degree black-belt in Tae Kwon Do.

A graduate of West Hall High School, Mr. Martin served in the United States Marine Corps from 1994 to 2001.  He holds (a) an Associate in Arts degree from Gainesville State College, (b) a Bachelor's in Science in Computer Information systems and Web Programming Certificate from NGCSU and (c) a Master's of Arts in Teaching (Business Education) from the University of Georgia.  He has taught math and business education at Chestatee Middle School since 2007, when, after a successful career as a Web-based programmer and business owner, he entered the profession of education to make a difference.  Mr. Martin coaches cross country, and he serves on the School Leadership Team and Technology Committee.  His hobbies include playing with his children, adventure racing, marathons, triathlons, target shooting, reading, wood working, computers, photography, and video making.

liannanix.jpgLianna Nix

Mrs. Nix has been teaching in public schools for seven years.  She entered the profession after several years serving in parachurch ministries and after raising her own four children.  She came to South Hall Middle School from Georgia College Early College, where she assisted in launching a small school for at-promise youth.  There she taught seventh-grade math and social studies and worked tirelessly with staff members and university partners to demonstrate the power of a positive learning community to transform the school experience.  Before that, she worked in middle Georgia middle schools, where she taught math, language arts, and social studies, as well as coached drama for the local high school.  Mrs. Nix is an impassioned advocate for excellence and equity in middle grades education; she loves adolescents and learning, and hopes to engender the same in her students as the lead learner among them.

kellyschollaert.jpgKelly Schollaert

Miss Schollaert holds her Masters Degree in Gifted Education and is a National Board Certified Teacher in middle grades social studies.  She is in her 7th year of teaching following a career in the textile and design industry.  Miss Schollaert brings her experiences of living across the country and her international travel into her passion for social studies.  As a history buff and social studies advocate, Miss Schollaert pursues life learning through active participation in social studies organizations such as National History day and the Georgia Council for Social Studies, as well as her work for the Georgia Department of Education in the creation of curriculum frameworks.  An avid camper and hiker, Miss Schollaert has spent over 1,000 nights off the beaten path from New Mexico to British Columbia.  She is also an avid reader and dreams about being a writer.

Cindy White

me2.jpgMs. White has an Educational Specialist degree in science education and Master of Education degrees in both science education and agricultural education.  She has taught for 20 years in gifted and regular education science classes and in horticulture programs at the high school level.  She served as the science coach for grades 6-12 at the district level for three years and is National Board certified.  Ms. White has spent her career encouraging students to have a passion for science and the natural world.  The special honor of being selected as STAR Teacher attests to her dedication to her students.  Her numerous projects have led students from the coast of Georgia to the mountains of Mexico to witness the migration of the monarch butterfly  Her interests include visiting museums, hiking, snorkeling and discovering what ignites the minds of her students.
